  1. Thanks Mark but I can't say any of them would tempt me.  The 99 colours were the best rendition, I think maybe these latest ones with the 'startburst' lines behind the logo, the Kawasaki logo and the pre 2002 Suzuki decal on the tank all clash and make it look thrown together rather than a coherent design.

Something else I noticed this time around, that gap between the top of the side fairing and the headlight looks odd from the angle of the pic :zipped:

The elephant in the room is now accepted?

  2. Had to turn the sound off, can't listen to that marketing pish.

Styling wise I think it's repairable but you just know that with the plastichrome fridge handles, the Yanks are going to cover the fucking thing in chrome abortion extracts.

But, bin the handles, blend them into the primary colour scheme along with the fins - in fact, paint the whole thing in the stealth 2003 or 2007 gen 1 format with black reflective kanji logos.  Oh and get rid of the Kawasaki tribute Z's on the infills between the tank and frame.  Then it would look pretty good I reckon.

But before any of that, you'd need to put a proper engine in there..  So what's the point - go the other way and start with a proper bike and tart it to look like a 'fixed' G3 if that's your bag.

Or stick with the proper bike and let them know how wrong they are to offer this thing to a discerning audience

I guess so equally hated hence the term Slo8

I bought gen1 in 2009 it was ok but burnt oil,but I was a novice rider then

New Gen2 was a massive improvement,  but I came with an open mind

Since then  I too have become an  embittered old git :D

:D  We don't let your (G2) sort into our embittered club - you'll have to start your own.  Fackin camin over ere finking ay cin use aar club.  On yer bike :hyper:

(I think there's a few parody accents in there, some of them might even be US )

The new Hayabusa achieves target performance without a variable valve mechanism

So the target for G3 was less than G2?  What a novel approach to marketing their top of the line hyperbike   and who chooses a bike like this on the basis of easier servicing?

Be honest, if you're buying something like a busa or zzr, you want it because it's big, f'kin fast, can mix it and has a reputation.  Efficiency and how much grief it is for the mechanics are waaaay down the list.

Remember when the G1 was launched - ugly bugger was the opinion, especially in the launch colours but it's performance was in no doubt and that sold it.  The ZX12 and busa battled for years but it was the battle for the world title between the 2 top contenders.  Before that, the Gixxer 1100 (at least in my circles) was the ultimate hooligan's weapon of choice, it sold for the same reasons and the zzr11 was for the (slightly) more refined thug on 2 wheels - it sold too.

Now we have feckin hill start.

No, to get it you have to defeat the end of level guardian - which in this case is John, sat on his roof, throwing and rolling beer barrels down the yard at you....

    :shock::hyper::rotflmao:

Brilliant   Are these barrels are the empties?

So no, it's not 40hp from a remap, it's maybe 40hp with engine work and a remap

The DD3 rear really does improve the SLO8 and I quite like it on the Gen 1 in that colour scheme too

  6. That remap with the extra 40hp?  It must be like the power up tokens you get in video games - is there a spinning diamond in mid air that you have to walk through?  Maybe it has a transmitter alert that calls in a team of mechanics to replace the crank and block?

Suzuki must really have muted the DD3 (thanks John ) if they can achieve that with just a remap.  I call *pish*

Suzuki Japan 10 years on have gone backwards, they missed the opportunity to take the lead

Same opportunity they missed in 2008 Mark.  I felt the same disappointment with the 2 as you do with the 3.

It's a real shame but it looks like they've done the same thing again.  No money to spend so they've tweaked the existing bike to meet new regs and tried to convince everyone that it's new.  Hill start, ffs!

I'd have loved to see a short stroke big bore rev happy motor, something like a gen 1 63mm stroke with 86mm offset bores - 1464cc would have had me at their door.  All fits within the existing frame and bodywork.

So that's it then John, on with Project Swansong :hyper:

  8. :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Remember that hot girl you met in the loud night club; beautiful eyes, hair, clothes, tiny waist, boobs you could rest your pint on?

and in the bedroom she took off her wig, make up, false leg, corset, push up bra and you could hear Jabba the Hut squealing for a snog so did a runner out the bathroom window?

Suzuki continue the trend through the generations :D

ffs! You see where these fecking vegetarians have led us?  :reeling:

Right John, extra blood drippingly rare it is

  9. Read these threads in the wrong order Martin - nothing wrong with Aliexpress and it was for work :whistling:

IS that really the new gen 3 though?  With you on the looks of it, I think even the Ice Cream Van Gen 2 is better looking.  They seem to have tried to merge the 1 and 2 and it looks odd, the nose looks a bit like a H@#%a.  Maybe better pics will help..

But never mind all this frills and ribbon talk, what engine is in there, what does it make and can we f*ck with it? :D

  10.  And in reverse order we have..

It'll be made with really tight tolerances, engineered to the nth degree to do only what it has to with the minimum of excess and any modification will be illegal with those attempting changes being executed on pay per view.

Gen 1's will become even more sought after with gen 2 owners buying chinese knock off bodywork to try and look the part.

    *backatcha :D
